Powerful Persuasive Presentations

Are you responsible for creating PowerPoint or Keynote  presentations? Have are eight tips to help you get better results.



  1. Them. Not You
    In sales presentations by virtue of being there, you’re almost ‘bought’. Differentiate your company by having content 99% about them; all selling points relate to their problems.

  2. Set up a Master
    Under the view toolbar, you’ll find slide master.  Set your font, design, background here to do it once instead of for every slide.

  3. Use Contrast
    Use a dark background and light lettering or vice versa. There's nothing worse than people not being able to read your slides because you're using dark on dark or light on light.

  4. Use visuals to break up text
    Either replace lines of text with a large graphic or put a relevant image in the lower right hand corner. Google Images is utterly superb. When you find the image you want, be sure to click to obtain it from the original source. The search results just show you low resolution thumbnails

  5. Be consistent.
    If you use transitions and animations - don't have text coming in from the left on one slide, the right on another, twirling in on the third.

  6. Drop your logo.
    Your presentation is for the audience. Logos can minimise the area available on the slide for content. Result? Crowded slides or text written smaller than it should be. Think of those poor soles sitting in the back of the room or across the table.

  7. Screenshot it
    For speed, reliability and visibility, avoid live Internet demo’s. Instead give them the focal point you’re going to make in a screenshot.

  8. Save Time Editing
    If you work in outline view, you can rewrite text in the left hand outline instead of onto slides.
