How To Win Friends and Influence Others

o How to win an argument
o Interview for a job
o Give a good speech
o Make a great sales presentation

3 ingredients to being persuasive:
1. Structure/ organisation- how you put your ideas, your argument, your thoughts together. Be organised
2. Content - what you say. This is how you intellectually connect. The points you make
3. How you say it - this is your secret weapon, how you emotionally connect.

Scenario: Talk your partner into the need to buy/upgrade a computer
Preparation is the key. Not honey, let's get a new computer, or I want a new computer.

1 Organise your thoughts into points to make supporting buying it.
It could be:
1. work faster
2. kids and homework
3. Internet - friends , hobbies, online banking

2 - Getting Your Message Across
How you're going to advance your points now is from your listener's point of view and if you can, using stories to prove your point. And always from their perspective if you can.

Work faster - what does that really mean. Put it in the perspective it will save time and money, give an example. It could be a story about how friends use a computer

Put as many you's in it as possible. Instead of 'I'. Remember you're trying to connect emotionally.

Not the kids talk about working with computers.
Instead, you should hear how the kids talk….

Using this tactic
1. organising your thoughts into specific points you want to make
2. connecting with your 'target' emotionally by relaying the points with high 'you' content and with stories

Will help you be more persuasive in many facets of your life.
